ChANGE BEGINS WITH US

The Future Leaders Program is an initiative I launched as a way to give back to my community. In the Nigerian public school system, kids don’t have to pay tuition fees but they do need to pay for uniforms, books, snacks, and transport fare amongst other things.

As a result of this a lot of kids either can’t attend(as their parents can’t meet the associated costs) or do attend but struggle to excel either because they’re hungry, don’t have the study materials they need, or are in undersized uniforms.

One generation ago, my mother was in this exact position and had to spend her evenings and weekends selling Okra and Cray fish in the markets just to make enough money for transport fare to get to school. She did this from age 10 through to age 16!

In light of this, the Future Leaders Program aims to support kids in similar situations as my mother was, so they can focus on being students as opposed to taking on crippling responsibilities.

The Program officially launched on Tuesday the 8th of October 2019 and I’m delighted to say we’re currently supporting two kids!
